When Nick was asked how he maintains such an elaborate vocab in his writing, he said:
"I don't read a ton. English was not my specialty in High School. I was more into science and debate. I know that's lame but that's ok. I like to watch news shows to stay informed. I've got 60 Minutes playing on the Tivo right now! I read more on the road. I'm into band biographies lately. Hammer of the gods, the Led Zeppelin story is next on my list of books to read. I can't front though, I like to watch the Simpson's and play video games too!!! Smuggler's Run on PS2 is our game of choice at the studio. N"
A Happy 311 Day Wish From Nick:
"Whadup people! I just wanted to give a ahout to all the 311 fans out there. Thanks for all the love! I'm excited that we are on a new label and we are back to the energy and wild creativity of our early albums. I'm sure that all the true 311 fans out there are going to dig the new tunes. Later today I'm going to hang with some special fans at 3:11pm. I'll post again about that later. BTW, I shaved the goatee. Adam made me do it for the album photos! Nick"
And, As Promised, This Is What Nick Posted Later About The Special 311 Fans:
"Part of the 311 celebration today was the presentation of the 311 tribute cd "Standing on the Shoulders of Giants." The cd was brought to us at the studio by JR Barnett, Drew Hett, and much to my surprise, Marissa maley, my step sister. I had heard about the cd but had no idea marissa was invloved. I want to thank all the poeple and bands that made it happen. Looking through the cd booklet, we were very moved and impressed by all the hard work that went into the cd. It's so cool to know that we are making such a connection with so many people! It's been a great day, Thanks for being a part of it. Nick"
